Scaling And Polishing

Scaling and polishing is a procedure that removes dental plaque, tartar and extrinsic stains that are present on the outer surface of the teeth. Scaling and polishing cleans your teeth, preventing and controlling the severity of gum diseases.

Teeth Whitening

How does teeth whitening work?

Working from the inside out, the active ingredients in Opalescence gels penetrate your teeth to break down the discoloured molecules deep down in your teeth, removing stains and whitening your smile. And Opalescence gels contain added ingredients that have been shown to strengthen enamel and prevent cavities!

Preventive Dentistry

We recommend a regular dental check up every 6 months to keep diseases like Periodontitis at bay. Regular cleaning and hygiene therapy is not enough. For example, sometimes leaking tooth fillings must be replaced to prevent oral bacteria from invading and starting a new decay. But problems like this are best nipped in the bud. We have preventive diagnostic tests like x- rays to detect decay and aid in the diagnosis of oral diseases if necessary.

Tooth Coloured Filling

A filling replaces part of a tooth that has been lost because of decay or accidental damage. If you are embarrassed about your smile because of decay or dark fillings in your teeth, you are a good candidate for composite resins. Composite resin is a tooth coloured filling which bonds to the teeth and protects it from further decay. We can blend and mix shades to find the perfect colour to match your natural teeth. We also offer Glass ionomer fillings, as indicated in certain situations.

Crowns And Bridges

Crowns

When a tooth is compromised by decay or damage, we may suggest a crown. This restoration, made in a lab from fine dental porcelain, will blend seamlessly with your teeth, return the strength that you need for comfortable oral function, and maintain your all-white smile.

Typically, we can design, fit, and place your crowns in just a couple of short appointments spanning over ten days. Once a crown is placed, you can care for it as you do your natural teeth. Be sure to see us every six months for professional cleanings and a preventive exam.

Bridges

Dental bridge is a prosthetic tooth (or teeth) that attaches on one or both sides to teeth prepared with dental crowns. If you’ve lost teeth due to accident, injury, or gum disease, we can create a permanent bridge to restore your perfect smile. A bridge not only fills the gap, but it also prevents repositioning of remaining teeth. It can also correct a misaligned bite, improve chewing function and speech articulation, and provide internal structure for the face to give you a more youthful appearance. With proper care, a fixed bridge may last at least 8 to 10 years.

Tooth Extraction

We perform tooth extractions quickly and with minimal discomfort to treat a host of dental conditions. Patients suffering from broken, cracked, and/or excessively decayed or damaged teeth or has tooth which cannot be saved by fillings or root canal can be extracted under local anaesthesia. We also perform certain wisdom teeth extractions.

Dentures

If you have lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay, or injury, dentures can replace your missing teeth and restore your smile. Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. Without support from a denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. You will not be able to eat and speak comfortably.

When many or all teeth are missing from a top or bottom jaw, we suggest the use of dentures. A full denture replaces all teeth on a top or bottom jaw, whereas a partial replaces many missing teeth by fitting like a puzzle piece. Modern dentures look like natural teeth and are more comfortable than their predecessors. The porcelain false teeth in a denture are attached to a gum-coloured base. This base can be held in place by denture adhesive, clasps that attach to existing teeth, or dental implants.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride, a natural mineral is found in many foods and also in water. Fluoride is lost through demineralization where the tooth’s enamel layer is attacked by acids in the food and drinks that we consume. These acids are formed from plaque bacteria and sugars. From the food and drinks consumed, minerals are also replenished in the form of fluoride, calcium and phosphate in a process called remineralization.

A dentist can also apply fluoride directly to the teeth in the form of a gel, foam or varnish. This method allows for a much higher amount of fluoride to be applied to your teeth than toothpastes and mouthwashes. Fluoride supplements are available in liquid or tablet forms and must be prescribed by the dentist, family doctor.

Night Guard

Night guards are used to treat bruxism (teeth grinding) and clenching. Symptoms associated with grinding include headache, stress, anxiety, ear aches, and jaw joint pain. Many individuals are unaware that they grind or clench their teeth at night, but a lot of damage can occur without any symptoms.

Thin, transparent, and horseshoe-shaped, dental night guards are created from hard but mouldable plastics. The night guard fits over either the upper or the lower teeth, creating a cushion between them and absorbing the impact of the grinding or clenching. Night guards can help reduce enamel damage, jaw joint inflammation, and irritation to the gums. Overall, most night guard wearers report they have less pain and sleep better.

In order to be truly effective, night guards need to be custom-made for each individual. It typically takes two dentist appointments to receive a night guard. During the initial visit, the dentist takes a bite record and makes an impression of the patient’s teeth. These will be used to create a customized night guard that allows for proper teeth alignment. During the second appointment, the patient gives the night guard a test run and the dentist makes any necessary adjustments.
